My Story
I grew up in Atlanta, where I spent 12 years as a 1st grade teacher while growing Biscuits & Burlap, the Southern food blog I began with my mom. I loved teaching, but after the pandemic, my heart just wasn't in the classroom anymore.
I realized I could combine my expertise from years as a successful food blogger with my love for teaching others, so I made the leap. I left teaching for good and started my own business. Now I run Sara Brand Services, which has two divisions: one for bloggers and one for local businesses in the Golden Isles, which I now call home.
I also run Discovering Coastal Georgia, a local site dedicated to sharing my love of this 100-mile stretch of coastline and helping locals and visitors fall in love with it too.
Why I Serve Two Different Markets
For Bloggers: I serve bloggers because I've been in their shoes. I understand their struggles and know exactly how to help. I work with established bloggers who have been around for years and are ready to outsource tasks like content writing, keyword research, and content updates. I also work with brand new bloggers who are looking for affordable coaching and mini courses to help them get started on the right foot.
For Local Businesses: Social media management for local businesses is a completely different service—one I don't offer to bloggers. But here in coastal Georgia, I see a real need for it! The majority of businesses here are owner-operated, which means there's often a lack of real-time information on social media. If it weren't for us spreading the word about the great bars, happy hour specials, and local events through Discovering Coastal Georgia, much of the public wouldn't know about them!
I want to use my expertise in growing the social media presence of my own small businesses to help others in my community grow theirs. There's so much fun and beauty to be shared in the Golden Isles—let's share it!
On a Personal Note
My partner Van and I are empty nesters living in Brunswick, Georgia. Our oldest is in the Army and our youngest is in college at Georgia State University in Atlanta. When I'm not creating content from my office that overlooks the Spanish moss-covered live oak trees and tidal river in my backyard, I'm working in our garden, exploring nature trails and visiting farmers markets in the area, or getting out of town!
In the past 3 years, we've done a cross-country road trip from Georgia to Alaska, explored the Andes mountains of Peru, and drank our weight in mojitos and canchancharas in Cuba. We're always looking for somewhere new to explore—but we always love coming home to the Golden Isles, where the sunsets are unmatched and there's always something new to discover.
